About Visitation at RFS
Riverside Family Support provides several types of supervised visitation in Harrisonburg, Staunton, Augusta County, and Page County. Visitation may take place between children and a non-custodial parent or family member.
At Riverside Family Support, we deeply value the significance of family and the critical role biological connections play in a child's well-being and development. We understand that maintaining these connections is not only meaningful but also supported by extensive research demonstrating the positive impact of strong familial bonds on a child’s sense of identity, stability, and emotional health.
Through supervised visitation, we create opportunities for children to maintain and nurture these vital relationships in a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Our priority is always the child—ensuring their safety, comfort, and emotional needs are met throughout the process. Every step of our services is designed to prioritize the best interests of the child while fostering healthy, meaningful interactions that contribute to their growth and resilience.
Purpose:
To provide a safe and structured environment for children to maintain relationships with their non-custodial parents or other adults. In some cases, supervised visitation may help to re-establish and strengthen the bond between the parent and child in a safe and structured environment.

Compliance with Visitation Orders:
Riverside Family Support will always act in accordance with any active court order regarding visitation/contact between a parent and child and will hold all parties accountable for compliance with the order; termination of RFS services will occur as a result of any noncompliance with an established court order.
